Day 59

Some of my old play food... a far cry from what the kids have now to play with.  Theirs look realistic, mine had to have labels on it lol!  Lil' Miss happens to love these and lines the whole set up in the window.  It makes me so happy to see my toys loved again.

Day 53

well... the snow is pretty on a sunny day... I'll admit it, even though I'm tired of it, if I have too...

Day 52 Faking It

This is the parsley that I planted in my kitchen window last February.  It still thriving and giving me a touch of green on the long winter days.  A little fake spring.  As long as I don't look past it, I see green at my window.

Day 51

After warm, beautiful weather it started snowing again.  We almost had even the drifts melted before it started coming down.  So much for spring coming.

Day 48 Tiny Bear

The little one, so sick.  She wont let me go more than arm's length away.  So, yesterday, while sitting by her side and watching her sleep I got bored.  I happened to be close to a knitting basket so I knitted her what she now calls Tiny Bear.  She holds Tiny Bear and tucks her in next to her, she's helping Tiny Bear get over the flu.  I hope Tiny Bear helps her get over it too.

Day FORTY 7

The beginning of a whole new decade... yesterday was my birthday.  In the middle of this horrible flu I said goodbye to my 30s, decided to stop being 29 over and over, embraced the number, and yes... I turned 40.  I think I'm a beautiful 40, a wise 40, a giving 40 but if you think for one minute this means I've decided to age gracefully, forget it.  I love 40, it's a good number but it's only a number, just part of the total package.

Day 46 Make Up Work

Where have I been?  5 days missing, with no word about it... bad blogger, very bad.  The flu has hit our house hard.  This little guy was the first to come down with it and the only success story so far.  It took him 9 days to get over it, 5 missed school days leaving piles of make up work.  The others are halfway there if they follow his pace.  So, I wasn't here and I may be late some more but if you could see how much laundry I've been doing you would be so impressed!

Day 45 Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day!  I thought these pretty, green, heart shaped leaves defying the snows of winter were the most beautiful hearts of the day.  Baby hollyhocks waking from their beds, can spring really be far off?

Day 42 American Girl

Thank you Grandma.  Thank you for making her smile.  Thank you for finding the perfect doll and ordering it without hesitation the day you heard she was getting glasses.  Thank you for always coming up with the perfect, thoughtful gestures that make your grandkids lives more special.

Day 37 Still Knitting

I seem to be attached to my needles, hooks, and sewing machine lately.  I have finished so many projects one that I hope to share with you in the near future, a sweater that is at the blocking point and matching skirt for my oldest daughter.  This, however, was for Lil' Miss' itouch.  Yesterday she informed me that she needed a "purse with a strap to wear around her neck" so she can listen to music (Bicycle Race by Queen) while she rides her bike around the kitchen table.  So I came up with this thingy, affectionately called the isock by my oldest.  It was pretty easy and fast, just 36 stitches cast on to 4 size 1 double pointed needles, knit in stocking knit stitch in the round for a little over the length of the ipod with about a 1/2 of ribbing (knit 2 pearl 2) to give it the sock look.  Then I just crocheted a chain the length I wanted with a size F hook and did a row of slip stitches.  Sew up the bottom and attach the strap and  tada, Lil' Miss has a travel case for her bike rides lol!  Not bad for a spur of the moment idea.
