Day 88 Eggs

Lil' Miss saw some beautiful lace covered eggs the other day and wanted to try her hand at
making her own.  So yesterday we carefully blew them out and dyed them and today
she got to decorate her own.  I think they turned out lovely.

Day 87 Violets

The eyes of spring, so azure, Are peeping from the ground;
They are the darling violets, That I in nosegays bound.
 ~Heinrich Heine

Day 86 before the frost

I know, it's just more flowers but with the frost that was coming I went a little flower crazy.
These, by the way, are now a bit frost bit with a touch of brown all over them :(

Day 85

The fruit trees are in full bloom.  Do you see why I'm hoping to avoid that frost?  My yard has
transformed into fairyland with flowers everywhere you look,
it will break my heart to lose it all now.

Day 84 Sisters

This makes me wish I had a sister and grateful that my girls have each other.

Day 83 Grape Hyacinth

I'm starting  the weekend catch up posts.  This is from my front garden.  The grape hyacinths are
one of my favorite flowers and they're in bloom for a while at least, we're under the threat of a frost
tonight and it has me a little worried.

Day 76 ...a perfect day

Our perfect day.  There was fog so thick you could barely see ahead of you.  It
was a dream come true.  My dh thought I was crazy and asked if I was serious when I said
I loved the weather.  To him this was stay indoors weather but to me, well, it was my first
chance to be out really early on a foggy morning with my camera.  The day held promise of
new challenges and a chance to see one of my favorite places in a new light.  Yes, to me, it was

The two youngest had appointments early this morning which allowed my youngest son to
miss school and come with us.  I think, at this point, they're doubting the perfection
of this day as well.

But, as the fog lifted so did their moods.  We went for a walk and came across plenty of creatures
and little signs of spring.

The something happened that made my son proclaim it to be one of the best days ever.

He fed wild birds from his fingertips.

His sister tried to feed them too but when the bird landed on her
fingers she screamed and ducked, scaring the bird away.  I'm not sure why, she fed them last year,
but this year it's just not her thing, maybe on the next perfect day.

Day 73 Rainbow Cakes

With St. Patrick's Day coming we thought rainbow cakes would be a good idea.  You know, to
entice the leprechauns to drop by and leave little pots of gold :)

I probably should have put the link to the recipe I used.  I've had a few people ask about it.
So, here it is:  Taste A Rainbow  Have fun making them!

Day 72 Home!

The first thing she says every morning is, "Is it a school day?".  She misses them.
She watches for them.  She waits for them and when that bus comes she lets
out a scream, "Home!"  She runs for the window, door, whatever is closer, and
sometimes, when she is outside, she gets to run to them.

Day 71 Dreaming of Spring

I've started spring sewing again.  It helps with my daydreaming about warmth and photo shoots
full of light and blooms.  I made this top for my oldest daughter this weekend.
I can just see her under the peach trees in it, petals landing in her hair.
It's not far off now.
