...my Lil' Miss, messy hair and hoody. I wanted to take photos in all the gorgeous sun today. I packed the camera, we hopped in the car, and 2 seconds into the drive... massive cloud cover. Everything looked just as grey and miserable as it had the day before. Sure, it was warm but warm without sun doesn't translate well in photos. Then I saw her and she smiled and said to me, "It's a good thing this girl has a hood on a day like today, you never know if I'll need it." She smiled her proud smile because she knew she was so clever and I clicked. I found my Sunshine through the grey.

Look at all that snow... Do you want to know what is nice about posting a day late? I know, while looking at this snowy, grey day photo that today is sunny and over 50 degrees Fahrenheit! All that snow that had me so miserable yesterday is almost entirely melted. I am picturing this bucket full of flowers in the spring :)

...over 2 new inches of snow now and coming down hard. It's... pretty. I could like it a whole bunch more if my kids could get a snow day from school tomorrow and stay home with me. Hmmm... maybe I'll have to declare my own snow day :)

More snow... I know it's still winter and January and whatever... I miss spring. Yesterday, (this day here) we got another inch of snow. Yes, it's pretty... sigh... I want to like it, really I do, but I miss being out on the boat and spring fever has a firm hold over me now.

I seems to be running a day late with posting, maybe later today I'll actually post today's photo... maybe. Anyway, I thought these looked pretty nifty yesterday. I actually went to take a shot of a woodpecker but as luck would have it, when I went to switch to my telephoto lens the darn thing flew away. It was then that I noticed the shrooms. I think, and maybe it's wishful thinking, but I think they've grown even though it's winter. Is that even possible?

As you can probably guess, smurfs have taken over my house, the toys, the cartoons, the laa la lala la laa, and now the hats. I made my oldest daughter a smurfy hat (the awesome pattern is found free here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/amelie-hat you may need to sign up for ravelry to see it, not sure) then when Lil' Miss saw it she had to have one too. I finally finished it today. The hat is easy to make and the first one only took me 2 days but the second... well the second of anything take me so much longer because I don't like making things twice. Lil' Miss had to wait nearly 2 weeks for hers. She was so excited when I finished it and has been wearing it around the house ever since. Now my youngest son wants one too but without the pretty edging... oh my poor smurfing fingers. Where did I put the tiger balm?

Day 17, 18, and today...

Day 17~ ok, so not impressive photography but this was the discovery of the day. Lil' Miss loves popcorn and has decided that this summer she is going to grow "popcorn trees" as she calls them. Some of her popcorn has started growing and she is pretty excited that it's working.

Day 18~ one of our little visitors taking off.

Day 19~ So it begins again... I've heard tale that we are in for about 7 inches of snow by Saturday morning. We've had white out conditions off and on this morning mixed with sunshine and the 1 inch we were supposed to get today has already turned into 2 inches. I'm not complaining. I love a good snow storm, I love being cozy and safe in my house while the weather rages outside. There's a roast in the crock pot and french bread baking in the oven. By the time it really hits tomorrow, I'll have the house filled with comfort foods and extra blankets scattered about. I am ready to be snowed in. :)

Now you know, with my luck, it will totally miss us lol!

My oldest daughter had the idea that she and her little sister should make the birds a treat to help them get through the winter a little easier. They made these adorable birdseed hearts and hung them on all the trees around the yard. I thought it was so sweet.

I couldn't possibly do a white color photo day without my own beautiful Snow White. Ever since she was born she has been compared to the princess with her dark hair, fair skin, and blushing cheeks.

I seem to be shooting more thoughtful expressions and far away gazes instead of giggles. These are the ones I know will break my heart when so much time has passed that I no longer count it.

A look back at my favorite 11 photos of 2011. It was really hard to narrow it down but these and the sets they belong with are my favorites, sometimes for the photography, sometimes for the memories they evoke. It was a great year and I'm looking forward to 2012, a leap year which makes it all the more special. I've decided to attempt project 366 and can't wait to get started on it. I absolutely loved this session with my daughter. She looked amazing and the light was my favorite honey colored glow. Sometimes when I'm reviewing the photos I can barely believe this is my baby girl. She is growing up so fast on me.

Since our weather is calling for rain and potentially our first snow this year on Halloween we're doing the photos early. I would really hate to miss capturing this because of weather.

Lil' Miss chose to be a pirate princess this Halloween. She still really has a thing for pirates and treasure and she wanted to be a princess but it had to be a tough princess so this was perfect for her.

Our home away from home this week. The weather was perfect, the location was perfect, and the company was of course perfect. We braved the forest in a tent, sleeping with the bears and coyotes, porcupines and deer under a canopy of pines. We cooked by the fire and spent our days exploring the beautiful surroundings. It was heaven and as far as I'm concerned this will always be one of my favorite memories, this time away with my family, my sweet loves.

2 posts in one day, shocking isn't it? Blame it on the rain. We have been having days where it's as if we're trying to fit all of summer into them. That means tons of photos because the camera goes everywhere with me. I have to remember these days, these are good ones, the keepers. We're spending lots of time on the water, as in until the sun goes down, and living a perpetual vacation. I can honestly say I was surprised to find out it's August already. It is August right? That's what I heard anyway. I have truly lost track of time and I hope to stay this way.

"I'm going to get a close up. Mom, you're in the good light!" Lil' Miss is smitten. She loves this little camera as much as I do. We saw it in an antique shop this week and it looked like it needed love so we brought it home. She'll carry it around, setting up a shot, looking for the light (tell me when I'm blocking it lol). She knows there's no film but to her it's fun and if she keeps this up, when she's older, she'll be amazing behind the lens.

I don't like phones. I hate talking on them, it annoys me to no end, but lately I have found a love for mine. It has a camera, one I never really used, but there it is, always on me. It took pics of my Lil' Miss on that hard sought merry-go-round. It took pics of the kids on the boat yesterday when for some insane reason I decided not to bring any camera. What was I thinking? Oh yeah, I just wanted to live in the day. Well, that lasted about half way though the outing and feeling naked without my camera I whipped out the cell phone. Strange fact, I had fun with it. I knew the pics would be grainy, I knew they would be useless, so all I had to do was randomly shoot without even thinking. Stranger fact, these are some of my favorite photos so far this season. My little phone has value, who knew? Just don't call me on it lol!

Another Day, Another Park

Well, this time the park had the tallest toys she she has ever played on and while I would have liked to get the whole thing in a shot there was no way I was backing that far away from her while she was loose on it. I think the tallest slide was about 20 feet tall, scared me to death! I just do not have nerves of steal when she's on play ground equipment.

Here she is being all brave with a slight look of fear on her little face. I will say, after climbing all the way to the top she did not slide down, she took the stairs.

On a side note, I have found a merry-go-round! It's about 20 minutes from our house and I plan to get her there soon. I'm sure that will be way more fun for her than over-sized play ground toys.

After walking a mile or so, our walk ended at a beach. There was sand and seagulls aplenty, then, she rose into view from the distance, the ship. A pirate ship. Yay hey no way! What more could a little pirate princess want? She broke into a Jake And The Neverland Pirates song and boarded the vessel to take over as captain of the great ship.

It's not a merry-go-round but it is pretty awesome!

Just One More Slide

After about 5 weeks of me being sick, we finally got back to the business of having fun. Spring is in full swing now, actually today it's about 85 degrees and feeling like summer, but tomorrow spring weather will be back. It was a good day, lots of nature, a little fishing, and of course the slides and swings. That final pout, was the just one more slide look before we had to go and the one more slide turned into two slides and a "I don't want to leave" from her. I didn't want to leave either and hope to get back there soon.
