Tick Tock

As the clock winds down and we draw nearer to the end of 2012, I can't help but think,
thank goodness!  I know it doesn't follow the typical spin your life and make it sound fabulous
approach that I see so much of in blogland but this year, this year has been the most tiring,
un-creative, two steps behind kind of year I have ever had.  It's true!  It sounds awful doesn't it?
It's entirely unlike me.  I'm not even sure what happened.  This year has left me scratching my
noggin in wonder.  I wonder where it went and worse I wonder where I was for most of it.
There is a light at the end of this tunnel though.  The last few days I have felt better.  I am excited
to wake up again.  I mean really excited, as in I start the day exercising and planning new things
to learn and do.
I don't know what caused the change but I'm glad for it and I hope to... no... I know
I will see more of it in 2013.

Lil' Miss' Gingerbread House

She is very proud of her little house that we made together at school but also very upset
when I told her there was no way I would let her eat it.  So, we made another one, from a kit,
that she could eat.  I think her first one is cuter.
I had believed, hoped, that the kit would spare me the labor intensive baking and building
of a homemade gingerbread house.  Well, a certain Lil' Miss now thinks that we should
build one from scratch.  We seem to have gone from a gingerbread house to a village.  I
have heard it takes a village to raise a child but I never knew that a child could
raise a village.

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
I've been a very good girl this year.  I know you're a smart man and understand that good is
a relative term.  So, in your esteemed opinion, just how good is good exactly?  Have I say... been
new lens good?  Or, maybe... off the top of my head... gazebo good.  Are we talking
good as in coal in it's burnable form, implying I'm not good at all, or the carbon cousin that sparkles?
You should know your answer will affect the quality and variety of cookies left out beneath
our tree this year.  I know you'll make the right call, you jolly old man you, and if not, that's
quite all right.  I have plenty of paper and the next letter will be to Mrs. Claus.  We all know it's
the wife that wears the boots, and as a stay at home kind of gal herself,
I'm sure she see things my way.

I've been decorating and getting into the spirit for about 3 weeks.  I did wait until after
Thanksgiving to put up the tree though and I felt it only right to wait to start
posting Christmas themed photos.  I know not everyone gets excited as I do,
not everyone dreams of fairy lights all year.

Sigh... fairy lights...

Butterscotch

Ok, so that may not be the horse's name.  It's not my horse, just one I passed on the way home
yesterday, but I really want to name it Butterscotch.
Wouldn't it be perfect?

Teddy Bear Picnic

Teddy Bear Picnic Song

If you go out in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.

Picnic time for teddy bears,
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily dance about.
They love to play and shout.
And never have any cares.
At six o'clock their mommies and daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they're tired little teddy bears.

If you go out in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

CHORUS

Every teddy bear, that's been good
Is sure of a treat today
There's lots of wonderful things to eat
And wonderful games to play

Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

CHORUS

Day Break

This morning as the sun was rising the earth exploded
in color and took my breath away. This is but one little corner of
the beauty that surrounds me. It is the loveliest autumn in years.

Love

Do I love you because you're beautiful,
Or are you beautiful because I love you?

Nostalgic

I love old things.  I remember being little and someone telling me to be careful because the spirit of
the original owner may still be attached to old things.  I was warned as if it were a bad thing.  I always
figured their fear came from one too many cheesy horror movies.  To me, a bit of that person
remaining would not be so bad.  I think it's what gives the old things soul and charm.  After all, a
thing is just a thing but to imagine them in use, being loved and cared for by someone all
those years ago... that is entirely
different, that is special.
