Meadowy

I don't usually show anyone a quilt until I have actually quilted it but I'm having trouble finding just the
right backing.  It has to be light, delicate, flowery, preferably mostly in lilac, and make you feel like you're
lost in a meadow somewhere.  I have high expectations for the back of my quilts lol!   The reason for my
showing this quilt is because I'm just so excited about the edge!  Those beautiful little prairie points
make me so happy.  I've always wanted to do a quilt with them and now I finally have.  Aren't they
just darling?

Here's a better view of the quilt:

So, my question now is, do any of you online shop for fabric and if so where?  What are your
favorite online shops?  I have a checked the nearest 2 JoAnn's and they don't have that meadowy
looking fabric.  Hmmm... meadowy is not a word, interesting, it should be :)  Our local (and by local I mean at least a 20 minute drive) quilt shops
seem to have closed their doors leaving me a little lost.  Luckily, I have a huge stash of fabric that
I have collected since I started sewing.... lets just say a LONG time ago.  The problem is always
backing because it takes so many yards and I am so picky.  I have thought of using flat sheets
and checked almost all of the stores around that sell sheets but would you believe there are
no meadowy looking sheets?  Seriously, am I the only person left in need of delicate florals?
It seems to be out of fashion in fabrics and bedding.

Anyway, check out all those extra little squares!  I'm thinking matching pillows are in order or
ruffled shams.

Credit for the quilt design belongs to Darlene Zimmerman and it was published in
McCall's Quilting magazine June 2003 edition.  Thank you Darlene for your lovely pattern!

  3. I've shopped on line and had good luck. Most places will send you a sample if you need it. Don't buy from JoAnn's if you can help it. I think their fabic isn't as nice a grade as you can get from a regular fabric shop. I've used Fabic Depot http://www.fabricdepot.com/ (I know they have lots of quilt size fabrics. Also bought from Web Fabrics http://www.webfabrics.net/ and Fat Quarter Shop

  5. Fabric shops, yay! Thank you so much for the links JudyD! I'll have to try those. I agree about the fabric quality at JoAnn's and they seem to be charging as much if not more than quilt shops now anyway.
