Day 337 Butter Cookies

Butter Cookies

1 cup of butter softened
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups of sifted all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Cream butter until light, gradually add sugar, beating well.  Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each egg.  Stir in vanilla.  Sift together flour, baking soda and salt, add to creamed mixture.  Chill until firm and workable.
On a lightly floured surface roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut out desired shapes.  Lil' Miss recommends stars and flowers :)  Place on a greased baking sheet.  Lil' Miss says to add sprinkles at this point, pink ones of course.  It's ok if you have other colors too, but you have to have pink otherwise the cookies just aren't right.  Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  Makes 3-4 dozen cookies.

I would love to show you the finished product but... they're gone... already.  We only make butter cookies twice a year, once in the spring and once before Christmas so they go as fast as they come out of the oven.
