Day 253 Play Dough
Today was interesting. We've been doing preschool work at home with workbooks and flash cards while the older three are at school or doing homework. It keeps her busy and gets her ahead education wise, plus, she just loves doing it. Well, today was a few firsts for her, her first experience with scissors, glue stick, and for arts and craft time we made homemade cherry scented play dough. She was in heaven! At first she couldn't believe we were cooking her a toy, this just seemed impossible. Then when I kneaded the hot dough to get it ready she eyed it very suspiciously but one touch was all it took and she was hooked. We played play dough for an hour and a half and then she played again when the others got home.
One of her creations. I'm pretty sure this is a lollipop and cherry tomato cake... we seemed to have a food theme going today. In the top photo, you can see her hamburger.
Here's the recipe if you want to make your own play dough lollipop and cherry tomato cake hehe!
1 cup of white flour
1/2 cup of salt
2 T. cream of tartar
2 T. Vegetable oil
1 cup of warm water
1 three oz. pkg. jello (any flavor we used cherry, it smelled wonderful and the older kids thought it was cookie dough when they got home)
Directions~ Combine ingredients and cook over medium heat until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of pot and becomes dull.
Note~ It burns easily so don't put over too high a heat and keep stirring. Knead until cool enough to touch. Store in a closed plastic bag.
I LOVE PLAY DOUGH TOO.
ReplyDeleteIf you press it through a garlic press it makes awesome fairy hair! MMM I can just smell that delicious, warm, cheery playdough now.
